Types of Drug Screens:

• URINE DRUG TEST
  • This is the most common type of test used by employers and institutions
  • It provides an efficient and cost effective solution for drug screening with high accuracy
  • The urine drug test works by detecting “metabolites”.  When a drug is ingested, it passes through the liver, enzymes convert the “parent drugs” to active compounds that are detectable during immunoassay and mass spectrometry tests.

• HAIR FOLICLE DRUG TEST
  • Hair testing is the most accurate and effective method of drug screening.  Using a small sample of hair, hair analysis evaluates the amount of drug metabolites embedded inside the hair shaft.
  • Each ½ inch of head hair provides a 30 days history of drug use.  The industry standard is to test 1.5 inches, which will provide a 90 day history of drug use.
  • If no head hair is available, body hair can be used.  Shampoos, bleach, and external contaminants have no known impact on test results
